Dre Blunt, dancehall's future!

Dancehall has never experience this shock wave of vibrancy and intellect until Andre Lee more popularly known as Dre Blunt came in the music industry.

With a knack for entertaining and his persistence to produce quality music that can be digested locally and internationally, Dre Blunt has carved his place in one of the world’s most competitive industries, music. One should not mistake his handsome features for lack of talent, just appearance, but Dre Blunt has canvassed immense street credibility with his sharp lyrical wit and metaphoric balance which keeps the crowd listening.

Music was never considered a past time activity for this talented 24 year-old deejay from Rockfort, Kingston. It was always seen as a way to creative expression and a viable business opportunity while honing the skills necessary to propel the music of dancehall to new heights.

As a matter of fact, Dre Blunt was introduced to the music business at 15 years old but was then called Norshous, a name he acquired from a fellow deejay Attaman. The name Norshous meant his “sick” flow and style. However, for marketing reasons it was changed to Dre Blunt in order to showcase his forthright approach to music.

He considers Beenie Man, Bounty Killa and Bob Marley to be his greatest influence, who has been pioneers for the Jamaican music and for bringing to the world.

With singles such as “Yardie, Yardie”, “Mi Nuh Have It” and “Low Mi” Dre Blunt continues to receive heavy rotations on local and international radio stations such as Zip FM, News Talk 93 FM and Fame FM in Jamaica and Hot104, Vibe98.9 of Cayman, Vibe105.3, Choice FM and Big City Radio in Boston.

“Mi Nuh Have It” and “Low Mi” have managed to become popular fixtures on the airwaves and at stage shows. Dre Blunt has spoken bluntly on over 12 interviews both in studio and over the phone within a year, and after doing his first live performance in New Hampshire in December of 2007. Locally, he has been featured in many of the major tabloids including X-News and the Jamaica Star. Dre Blunt has participated in the immensely popular Digicel Rising Stars show which draws over 1 million viewers in Jamaica.

In addition, this year he has been featured in Magnum Kings & Queens (a hardcore dancehall competition which is on the probe to find the next big dancehall acts). He, unlike many other artistes has taken the initiative to promote himself and his work. This is just another testament to the hard work and dedication that Dre Blunt puts into his music. Check him out on the Internet and social websites such as Facebook, MySpace and YouTube, where the growing number of hits and downloads indicates his popularity.

Not to be outdone this youngster has his own label, Rob Dem Recordz (R.D.R.), which started in 2007 and has attracted different upcoming artistes, including Hurricane. Rob Dem Recordz form part of Guerilla Music Production which is owned by Anthony “Bassie” Hibberts. For Dre Blunt, it is only the beginning of great things to come as he plans on releasing his Billboard Music mix-tape in 2010 with Gorilla Records, the sky is the limit for Dre Blunt and as long as the fans are there he will always entertain through music. Listen up world as Dre Blunt is going to tell you like it is! Bluntly
